Privacy policy

parita is a shared expense ledger for two co-parents. It holds only what the two of you record in it, and only the two of you can see it. This page explains what parita stores, why, and how to have it removed.

What parita stores

Everything in parita comes from you. There is no tracking, no profiling, and no data bought from anyone else.

How parita uses it

Your data runs the ledger you asked for: showing both parents the same balance, keeping an audit trail of every change, emailing the other parent about expenses, disputes and repayments, and signing you in. It is never sold or rented, never used for advertising, and never used to train machine-learning models.

Who can see it

Inside parita, the other parent in your family sees everything you record there — expenses, receipts, notes and your display name — and nobody else does. We disclose your data to a third party only if the law requires it. Beyond that, it passes only through the providers parita runs on, which process it on our behalf:

Dropbox

Connecting Dropbox is optional, and each parent connects their own account. parita asks only for read-only access to its own app folder, Apps/parita, so it can never see the rest of your Dropbox, and it never changes or deletes anything there. It lists that folder only while you are picking a file, and a file you pick is copied into parita so the other parent can see it without access to your Dropbox. Your Dropbox token is stored encrypted, and disconnecting in Settings deletes it and revokes parita's access. Receipts you already attached stay in the ledger.

Cookies

parita sets cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your language and your light or dark theme. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics.

How it is protected

Traffic is encrypted with HTTPS. Every query is scoped to your own family, the database is closed to the browser, and receipts live in a private store reachable only through short-lived links, issued once we have checked that you belong to the family. Dropbox tokens are encrypted before they are stored. No system is perfect, so please tell us if something looks wrong.

How long it is kept

Your ledger is kept for as long as you use parita, because both parents need the same history: voiding an expense leaves it visible but out of the balance instead of erasing it. If you want your data removed, ask us and we delete your family's expenses, receipts, activity log and accounts. Backups may hold copies for a short while before they expire.

Your children's data

parita is for the two adults in a family; children have no accounts. Expenses and receipts often name a child and what their care cost, so keep descriptions to what the two of you need for the accounting, and leave out medical or other sensitive details you would rather not have on file.

Your choices

You can read everything parita holds about you from inside the app, correct your own entries, change your name and language in Settings, disconnect Dropbox whenever you like, and ask us for a copy of your data or for its deletion. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with a new date, and anything significant is announced in the app or by email.
